REFEREES Information and Links
Section 3, Area T, Region 220
- As of 1/1/2001, by Federal Law (Volunteer Protection Act), referees who are not certified (Safe Haven Course and Referee Course) are not allowed to referee AYSO teams, and do not have AYSO liability coverage.
- We maintain an aggressive campaign to recruit a large pool of referees (age 12 or older) who can ref either Saturdays or Sundays, for U-8 (age 6 and older) and up.
- AYSO provides the coaches with continuing education: Safe Haven, age appropriate training, the referee uniform, a red and yellow card, a whistle and stopwatch.
- Youth Volunteer are referees age 12 through 18, who can referee players at least 2 years younger than they are.
- Every volunteer registers annually via a registration form that bares their signature.
